South Florida, we invite you all to show your support and appreciation to our military, past and present, December 8th and 9th, 2012 at Tropical Park, located at 7900 SW 40 Street in Miami.
That weekend, the Miami-Dade Police Department is coordinating a fundraising event for the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team (WWAST), a non-profit organization comprised of young, competitive, athletic veterans and active duty soldiers who have lost limbs post-9/11 while serving their country. The team includes individuals with a variety of amputations of the arm, above knee, below knee, bilateral below knee, and foot.
The mission of the WWAST is to raise awareness of the sacrifices and resilience of our military, and to highlight their ability to rise above any challenge. They want to show other amputees and the general population that
these athletes are able to perform the sport they love through hard work, rehabilitation, training, and dedication.
Come on out for a fun-filled family day with food trucks, bounce houses, music and more. Celebrities and political figures have been invited to the event to show their support, and there will be an opening ceremony to kick everything off.
They are also seeking sponsorship to ensure this event is a great success. On the event days, you can have a 10 X 10 booth to promote your business, and they will be glad to post a company banner and/or logo on all outgoing material to ensure your return on investment. By partnering with the corporate sector and community, together we can honor the brave souls that fought for our country. If you’re a local business owner, we are asking you to show your support. Please contact Det. Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department at 305-471-1900, or email him at azabaleta@mdpd.gov for more information.
This is an incredible event, and we would love to be able to pack the park for them and help them raise funds for these amazing men and women who put their lives on the line for our safety and freedom. So again, come out and show them some love, the way we know only South Florida can!
